Praise for Monsters

The book has been receiving endorsements from writers I admire deeply. This is such a strange part of publishing and can feel odd for everyone involved. When I write a blurb for a book I love, I’m thrilled to lend a hand. But when I ask for a blurb, I’m filled with shame and dismay. I guess this is just being a writer. Maybe there are writers who approach blurb requests with a bluff cheerfulness or a sense of entitlement. But for my part, I’m a little starstruck at the idea of anyone reading this weird assemblage of pages I’ve been constructing for years—let alone a writer whose work I adore.

In any case, I’m filled with an abashed gratitude. The lovely marketing person at Knopf has made me graphics of the blurbs. I’ve learned these graphics are called “assets,” which makes them sound like they’re a sniper from The Bourne Conspiracy. I’ll continue to share the assets and I’ll continue to be filled with outsize gratitude to these writers who’ve lent my book their support.

Monsters is coming from Knopf in the US on April 25. You can pre-order via IndieBound, Amazon, or your local bookseller.

The book will be released by Sceptre in the UK on May 25. You can pre-order here.
